Grace's Grampa Published a Book!
Grace brought in the book that her grandfather recently wrote about her family's genealogy. She showed us the page where she is noted in her family history.
Amaryllis Bulbs
We planted these two amaryllis bulbs on January 4th when we returned from vacation. They are slowly taking their time to show us signs of growth but there are subtle changes every day. The boys and girls check in on our bulbs every morning when they arrive to school.
"Eye Grows" Observation
These little guys have taken up residence in one of our windowsills. Their grass seed hair took about a week to sprout. We think that the hair is growing at different rates becasue of the angle of the shadow created from the window frame. We are looking forward to seeing the new "hair" growth after MLK weekend. Maybe they will need a hair cut. The sombrero is complements of Molly!
Let's Eat a Rock Today
Using the analogy of a chocolate chip cookie helps kids understand that a rock (cookie) is made up of minerals (chocolate chips). The dough is the "sediment" in this yummy exploration~
Can Rocks Float?

Congratulations Patrick!
Patrick won First Prize for Most Scary Jack-O-Lantern in the Hopkinton Cub Scouts Pack 26 Pumpkin Carving Contest this past weekend. Our Patrick is very creative and also enjoys making movies in his spare time ... look out Hollywood!
Jacob's Four Eyed Creature
Jacob found this mysterious worm in his yard over the weekend and brought it in to show the class. We had a hard time deciding what end was the head! Watching its muscles contract as it slithered along was fascinating.
Elmwood the Bear
Our class mascot, Elmwood the Bear, wore his Hopkinton Hillers sweater for his favorite team for DEAR Day too!
Our Swinging Frog is a Lever Too!

Our Handprint USA Flag
Each child from our class and Ms. Joyce's class has their red handprints on this flag. This flag is a reminder to all of us of the meaning behind the first line of the Constitution, "We the people of the United Sates of America".
